5. SETBACK

The two weakest have died. We bury them in the garden. We pick up the two remaining hedgehogs, a little sadly. We prepare a box for them and fill it with hay and a hot water bottle.
The first egg yolk is beaten up but it doesn't prove easy to get it inside.. Then back onto internet. There are lots of sites about hedgehogs but not much about our situation! It is illegal to keep hedgehogs. so? ... One forum offers help. We know now: NO MILK! But hedgehogs are mammals, surely? Late in the evening we are given a tip: there is special milk for young kittens that can be used for hedgehogs. Will they survive another night in our care? Straight to the village tomorrow morning.   ->
